Time to catch up -- it's been a long time since I've written anything. Actually had a bunch of posts sitting around in draft status. Have one more to finish before I post this, but want to keep catching up so I don't forget.
Last Thursday I went to the Pink Martini concert at Lisner Auditorium. Was supposed to go w/ AED, but she's been swamped with work and school and had to beg off. I wound up going with my mom, and we had a fun time. Didn't get a chance to let her listen to the music before the show, so I'm sure she was a little anxious about what it was going to be like. Honestly, I was struggling to describe them to her and was drawing a blank. Someone at work today probably gave the best description I've heard -- cocktail jazz. I think that gives a good sense of the sound. But I knew she'd like them, and I think she realized she would too when they opened with Bolero. It was a great concert. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/22/AR2006092201656.html?sub=AR
We had OK seats -- on the left orchestra side. A little hard to see everything that was going on, but we did have a great view of the pianist and could really see what he was doing when he was really playing.
All in all a good show, and hopefully I've given Pink Martini one new fan.
